Who is this for?

Domestic Abuse Awareness training is aimed at practitioners from the voluntary, statutory and private sectors working in a public facing role.

What’s involved?

This course is aimed at providing knowledge of coercive control with an overview of the offence as part of the Serious Crime Act December 2015. Learners will understand what coercive control is and its function within an abusive relationship, the effects and impacts on those who experience it, what types of abuse are involved and how they can best support victims and/or refer to specialist services.

Who is this for?

Professionals and volunteers working with adults, children and young people. This training has been based on the Social Care Induction Framework Quality Assured Lifelong Learning (SCIF QALL) Level 2 Unit ‘Induction to Safeguarding’ and provides a standardised all Wales approach to Safeguarding Awareness Training. Completion of the Safeguarding Awareness Training creates a ‘passport of learning’ should workers move organisations or departments.

What’s involved?

It will focus on the following learning outcomes:
  • Know own role in relation to safeguarding adults, children and young people from harm, abuse and neglect.
  • Understand how individuals are protected from harm, abuse and neglect.
  • Recognise different types of harm, abuse and neglect.
