Domestic Abuse Awareness Training

Hafan Cymru has developed a 3 hour training package to deliver Domestic Abuse awareness to practitioners from the voluntary, statutory and private sectors that work in a public facing role. The aim of the training is to raise understanding of abuse, enable individuals to recognise the signs of abuse and give practitioners the confidence to know where to signpost those affected for support. The course is facilitated by experienced practitioners and trainers who will provide information on local and national services available and referral processes.

All training is delivered by experienced practitioners and qualified tutors. Please call for our Introductory cost for a minimum of 12 people.

Training Aim

Participants will have heightened awareness of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

By the end of this awareness training the learner will be able to:

Understand what gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence is.

  • The learner can describe forms of gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Recognise the signs of gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

  • The learner can recognise the types of behaviours linked to gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence.
  • The learner can recognise some simple signs of the impact of gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence of those who experience it.

Understand their role in tackling gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

  • The learner is aware of the helpline number and Live Fear Free website as a professional resource (in addition to a service user resource).
  • The learner knows they have a workplace policy, its purpose and where to find it.
