  • We have a Fixed Term position available for 37 hours a week.
  • We offer holiday entitlement of 27 days plus bank holidays, sick pay and great pension options.

  • This role will require an enhanced DBS check, which we will pay for.

In liaison with the Spectrum Project Manager, and Schools Liaison Officers already in post to develop and deliver the Spectrum Healthy Relationships resource Pack, promoting its take up and use with children and young people in schools, and other educational establishments and to enable schools to ensure a whole school approach to domestic abuse, gender based violence and sexual violence is understood and becomes firmly embedded within the school’s practice

Key Responsibilities:

Address the safety of victims at high risk of harm from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members to secure their safety and the safety of their children.

Serve as a victim’s primary point of contact by working with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans.

Be pro-active in implementing the plans, including actions from MARAC, which address immediate safety and enable victims to protect themselves and their children, as well as longer-term solutions, using sanctions and services via criminal and civil courts, housing options and other organisations.

Provide short- to medium-term support to promote long-term safety.

Work as part of an IDVA service and within a multi-agency framework, keeping the client’s perspective and safety is at the centre of proceedings.

By engaging with high-risk clients, achieve clear and measurable improvements in safety, including a reduction in the escalation and severity of abuse and a reduction or cessation in repeat incidents of abuse.

The post holder will embody Hafan Cymru’s values and model appropriate behaviours at all times and in all areas of responsibility.

  1. Working with clients
    1. Identify immediate needs and liaise with other agencies and professionals on behalf of the victim ensuring that clients get the services to which they are entitled. Refer on and arrange meetings with other agencies/services as necessary
    2. Give safety planning advice to clients to secure practical safety measures and encourage clients to develop their support network
    3. Carry out risk assessments and risk manage cases to assist in reducing further incidents
    4. Participate in MARAC and other relevant safeguarding initiatives: refer clients to, attend and participate in meetings, follow-up on actions agreed in MARAC
    5. Explain housing, civil and criminal legal options to clients and maintain information and resource material for clients
    6. Support clients through the CJS system, explaining procedures and their role and rights within that system. Attend Pre Trial Review Courts and provide relevant information to the CPS to enable CPS and the Courts to make informed decisions with regard to case progression
    7. Follow procedures and protocols with other services so that the safety of the clients is kept central to any process. Where appropriate keep other relevant agencies informed about important changes in the client’ situation.
    8. Provide a service which is sensitive to all cultural and other differences and needs
    9. Manage an agreed caseload.
    10. Maintain and update accurate written and computer records of all cases.
    11. ability to work flexibly on a rota basis and take part in the out of hours rota
    12. To carry out risk assessments on each applicant and agree a risk management plan. To use good practice in managing risk and lone working.

    1. Note and feedback to other agencies any consistent difficulties clients are having accessing their service
    2. Monitor performance and record statistics in line with requirement and provide reports as directed
    3. Commit to a continuous improvement culture and be prepared to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and extent of the post
    4. Provide information and promote advocacy services to partner agencies.

Participate in multi-agency working parties when requested to do so by the Manager
